Hi! My name is Julia and I established Italian Prof.
I was born in Rome and grew up in Grottaferrata, a small town in the south east of Rome belonging to the Castelli Romani (Roman Castles).
Since I was really young I loved to travel and had therefore experienced how important and mind growing it is to share our culture and learn from others’ ones.
This passion for travelling and discovering new traditions made me decide to move to the UK, so after getting my high school diploma in Italy I moved to Cheltenham, where I attended the University of Gloucestershire for three years.

My love for teaching
My first ever experience teaching has been back in Italy during high school. In that period I used to volunteer to help foreign children that recently moved to Italy doing their homework in Italian. More or less in the same period my family also took part in a student exchange program with AFS, an international youth exchange organisation that allowed us to host a student from abroad for one year. This really made me open my eyes on the importance and cultural enrichment that comes from getting to know other people’s customs and traditions.
After graduating I decided to follow this desire to share everything I love about my language and culture: in 2021 I obtained my CLTA (Certificate in Language Teaching to Adults) certification from the International House London and I also became a CILS invigilator through the Università per Stranieri di Siena.
My methodology
My aim is to teach the Italian language to anybody that is interested in it but also to provide an in-depth journey in the Italian culture.
It is important for me that each lesson is entertaining and interactive and this is why I like to use technology and online resources quite a lot ( I earned my Educator Level 1 Certification from Google in 2022).
I also think it is essential that the student can discover the language structure in an active way rather than having it presented to him. In order to do this all my activities are based on real situations and everyday life, so that you will not only have a theoretical knowledge of the language, but you will be able to autonomously elaborate it and use it in real life.
For this reason it is important for me to know each student’s interests and motivations, so that I can plan and tailor every lesson on the person it is for, putting his needs and interests first.
Having studied a second language myself I know which are the main difficulties the student will encounter and I know the feeling of frustration some situations could bring. But I can assure you, with constancy and determination anyone can learn a language and being exposed to a native that speaks the language naturally is definitely one of the most important points.
I hope this gave you an idea about who I am and why I love teaching Italian, but if you have any other question or doubt please do not hesitate to contact me.
“One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way.”
