Classes

If you are interested in taking Italian lessons and would like some more information, send me an email at julia.carbonaro@gmail.com specifying:
– why you would like to learn Italian
– your level
– if you are interested in learning in-person or online
– if you would prefer attending group lessons or 1-2-1

At Italian Prof we offer courses for any level and age, from complete beginners to advanced. Every lesson is tailored on your need and part of a course that will help you learning Italian and building up your confidence.

Every lesson is a combination of the four abilities (reading, listening, speaking and writing) and will consist in several activities based on authentic material that will help you getting familiar with real life situation.

After each lesson you will receive all the materials used with your teacher and if you are willing to do some self-study as well, I can provide extra “homework” for you to do in between lessons.

P.S. If you’re having your lessons in person, please let me know if you are allergic to cats’ hair or don’t like them
being around, because mines usually love to say hi to students and sometimes come for a cuddle.

Other than general Italian lessons, I can also plan other kinds of activities depending on your needs and preference. Here are some examples:

Conversation
Being an Italian native speaker, beside my experience in the classroom, I also love to help students with functional and practical conversation sessions. Depending on what you want to achieve and what are your interests I will plan for you oral activities we will do during our course and I can help you improving your fluency and reducing your accent.

Intensive Italian
If you have a close deadline coming soon (an exam, a trip to Italy, a work meeting with an Italian company, etc.) I can provide intensive Italian lessons. In these cases I would suggest 3/4 lessons per week plus some independent work to do by yourself in between them. Also I like to suggest surrounding yourself with the Italian language which can really help you learning faster, in regards to this I can provide you with movies and/or book names.

CILS
In order to best prepare you for the CILS exam I follow the book “Percorso CILS B1” so that we can go through it together and I can prepare some activities for you that are linked to it.
Of course depending on your starting level I can advise you about when you will roughly be ready to take the exam, or if you have a specific deadline in mind just let me know and we can work out together the best lessons plan for you.

Italian Literature
If you are interested in Italian literature we can plan a course that focus on that. Of course depending on your starting level I will adjust the kind of activities presented to you, for example if you are a beginner we will need to go through the language basis first and then we can start talking about the Italian literature more in general. On the other hand, if you already have a good understanding of the language I can advise you on some short books/extracts to read so that the activities of our lessons will be based on them.

Children
I have experience teaching children in their mother tongue (I have been a private tutor for several subjects back in Italy) but more importantly helping non-Italian speakers learning and understanding the language. More specifically I have been helping children that moved to Italy and therefore found themselves in school without knowing the language properly.
Thanks to those experiences I learnt how to provide a playful approach to learning and I can plan fun and interactive activities that will keep the younger ones engaged and interested.

Do you know what a foreign accent is? It’s a sign of bravery.”
